The Ministry of Health, on Monday, received a consignment of surgical instruments and special medical materials from the Department of General Surgery, orthopedics and emergency departments, as a grant from the Russian government, through the World Health Organization (WHO), with a financial value of $175 thousand dollars.
The grant was delivered in the presence of Minister of Health Jawad Awad, Russian ambassador to Palestine Heydar Aganin and deputy director of the World Health Organization in Palestine, Ayadel Sparbekov.
The Minister of Health stressed the strong relations between the two friendly countries and expressed his deep thanks to Russia, the President, the Government and the people, for their constant support and their continued backing of the Palestinian cause, at all political, economic and health levels.
For his part, the Russian ambassador stressed that the grant comes in the context of Russia´s support for the friendly Palestinian people and the growing numbers of wounded Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
He reiterated his country´s position in support of the Palestinian cause, and that Russia supported all efforts to resolve it in accordance with the principle of a two-state solution, on the borders of June 1967 and East Jerusalem as the capital of the state of Palestine.
