On Wednesday, on the eve of a scheduled meeting in Moscow between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Russia accused Turkey today, Wednesday, of failing to fulfill its obligations under an agreement to establish a demilitarized zone in the Syrian Idlib province.
The Russian Information Agency quoted a spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry as saying that the "terrorist" fortifications merged with the Turkish observation sites in Idlib, which led to daily attacks on the Russian Hmeimim air base in Syria.
For his part, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he expected, along with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, during his visit tomorrow, Thursday, to reach a ceasefire quickly in the de-escalation zone in Idlib, Syria. This came in response to questions from journalists, on Wednesday, in the Turkish capital, Ankara Regarding the Turkish side receiving any proposals before his visit to Russia, Erdogan said, "There are no proposals at the moment, so we will conduct our visit first, and we will hold a press conference with Mr. Putin after the meeting." For its part, the Turkish Ministry of Defense, through its media and public relations official, said today, Wednesday, that its forces have neutralized 3, 138 elements of the Syrian regime since the beginning of the operation. The ministry also confirmed the shooting down of 3 fighters, 8 helicopters, 3 drones and the destruction of 151 tanks, 52 rocket launchers, 47 artillery, and 8 air defense platforms for the Syrian regime since the start of the "Spring Shield" operation. The Turkish official pointed out that two Turkish soldiers were killed and 6 wounded, during the past 24 hours, as a result of being targeted by the regime forces, noting that all the targets that were identified after targeting the soldiers were completely destroyed. Turkey continues to implement the "Operation Spring Shield" military operation against the Syrian regime forces in Idlib, in response to its aggression against Turkish forces, on February 27, which resulted in the killing of 34 soldiers.
