Netanyahu fears the influx of refugees into "Israel" and is moving to close the border with Jordan

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fears that the eastern border with Jordan will turn into a new route for the infiltration of refugees, especially African ones, and therefore he is seeking to build a new wall that will completely close the long border.

According to the Hebrew channel Reshet Kan, Netanyahu warned his ministers during the last session of the Israeli government weeks ago, that if the eastern border is not completely closed, there will be no Jewish state.

Netanyahu gave his ministers an example of what happened in Cyprus, where he said 7 percent of its population were Muslims.

He said: We would have been in a situation similar to theirs had it not been for the decision to close our southern and northern borders in the face of infiltrators.

He pointed out that the majority of African countries live in a state of extreme poverty and famine, and their residents flee to European and other countries, and that there are many residents of Arab countries seeking asylum in various countries of the world.

He said: “Since Israel has all the ingredients to be a country that fascinates these infiltrators, and it is close and accessible...the
eastern border is very long and less secure, so it may become the next port through which the infiltrators will flow involuntarily.”

He pointed out that “Israel is one of the few countries that controls its borders almost completely,” he said. Adding: “We have a border on one side that has not yet been dealt with in terms of fencing, which is the eastern border, and we will have to close it as well.”
