More than 40 countries have suspended travel from Britain or imposed restrictions on those coming from it, after London announced the spread of a new strain of the emerging corona virus, which is believed to spread faster.
Scotland closed its borders with the rest of the United Kingdom prior to the announcement of the new breed.
Here are the latest developments so far:
European Union citizens and residents will be allowed to enter France from Britain from Wednesday as long as they have a negative Covid test, allowing truck drivers stranded for two days due to the ban to return.
All Britons except for truck, bus and train drivers and residents of the European Union are still banned from crossing the English Channel.
Germany has banned entry to all arrivals from the United Kingdom and South Africa, where the new strain also appeared, until January 6. Anyone arriving in the country must now present a negative COVID-19 test.
All incoming flights from Britain are banned until December 31, and "people regardless of their nationalities must not travel from Britain, whether by air or sea."
Anyone who has arrived since December 8th must isolate himself by "staying in his room" for 14 days.
The UK travel ban has been lifted, but all passengers, including European Union citizens, are required to take a PCR test with a negative result prior to the flight.
They also have to isolate themselves for ten days.
And one case of infection with the new strain was detected in the country.
Spain and Portugal suspended flights, as Madrid only allowed its own citizens or residents to enter from Britain until January 5.
Poland, which has a large number of its citizens in Britain, has banned all flights from the United Kingdom.
Italy has banned flights from Britain until January 6 and has banned entry to people who have visited it in the last 14 days.
It was discovered that a person who had recently returned from the United Kingdom was infected with the new strain.
Russia has suspended all flights for a week with Britain.
Finland and Austria suspended flights for two weeks, and Switzerland until further notice, and travelers who arrived from Britain or South Africa will have to isolate themselves.
The three Baltic states, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, as well as Hungary and Luxembourg, have suspended all passenger flights from the United Kingdom.
The Balkan states, Croatia, Macedonia and Albania, along with Bulgaria, suspended flights until January 31.
Romania banned all travel to and from the United Kingdom for two weeks, and the Czech Republic did the same.
Norway, Sweden and Denmark suspended flights with Britain for 48 hours.
Sweden also closed its border with Denmark, where nine cases of the new strain were discovered.
Belgium suspended flights and train services, "Eurostar" with Britain.
India has suspended all flights from Britain until December 31, while anyone arriving in transit from Britain will have to undergo a COVID-19 test.
Hong Kong has banned all flights from Britain and extended the quarantine of passengers arriving from Britain in the last two weeks.
Canada has suspended all flights from Britain from Sunday evening for a period of 72 hours, while people who originally came from Britain will be subject to follow-up.
Turkey announced the suspension of flights from Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands and South Africa.
Saudi Arabia and Oman announced that they would completely close the borders for at least a week.
In turn, Israel stated that it would ban entry to foreigners from Britain, Denmark and South Africa, while Jordan would ban flights from the United Kingdom for two weeks. Iran took the same decision.
As for Kuwait, Britain added to its list of "high risk" countries and banned entry from them.
Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia banned flights from Britain, while Algeria decided to stop returning its nationals.
Mauritius, a former British colony, has also banned travel from the United Kingdom and South Africa.
Anyone who has visited Britain or South Africa in the last 30 days will not be permitted to enter El Salvador. The same is true of Panama and Paraguay.
Peru went further, banning all flights from Europe and any foreigner who visited Britain in the past two weeks.
Chile and Argentina also banned flights from the United Kingdom, and Chile banned entry to anyone who has visited Britain in the past two weeks, except for those residing there.
