Modi: India seeks to transform into a global hub for artificial intelligence services

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during a hypothetical conference on artificial intelligence organized by the Indian government on Monday that his country will launch a national program for artificial intelligence to focus on the correct uses of this technology in solving social problems.

"We must protect the world from attempts by unofficial parties (and groups) to convert artificial intelligence into a devastating weapon," Modi was quoted by Bloomberg News Agency.

For his part, Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of the Indian economic group Reliance Industries, said during the same conference that artificial intelligence is indispensable for achieving digital progress in India.

Ambani added that over the coming decades, competition among nations over digital capital will increase, and India has a unique advantage to use its digital capital to drive AI-driven development.
