Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Israeli settlement plan will lead to the looting of 1,200 dunums of Palestinian land

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said today, Wednesday, that Israel’s plan to build 9000 new housing units on the territory of Al-Quds International Airport will lead to the looting of about 1,200 dunums of Palestinian land.

The ministry warned in a press statement that the said settlement plan "shall, in the event of its implementation, completely isolate Jerusalem from its Palestinian extension from the northern side completely, and aims to link all settlements north of Jerusalem with each other and turn them into a huge settlement complex connected to a network of settlement roads."

She stated that the plan "will lead to the elimination of any opportunity or possibility to establish a viable, geographically and sovereign Palestinian state, in addition to the fact that the plan includes, in the event of its approval, the demolition of dozens of inhabited Palestinian homes in the neighborhood of the Masjid al-Matar, east of Qalandiya."

She saw in it "an official Israeli insistence on disregarding international law and international legitimacy and its resolutions and international condemnations of settlement, and confirmation of those who want to understand the hesitants or the patricians in the true colonial aspect of the American peace plan (deal of the century)".

The Foreign Ministry called on the countries of the world to realize that Israel "is going to resolve the final status negotiations issues based on the American recipe from one side and with the power of the occupation, away from any negotiations or peace conferences or international positions and decisions."

She concluded her statement by considering that "settlement expansion north of Jerusalem is evidence of the failure of the international community to achieve peace on the basis of a two-state solution in accordance with international resolutions and international references."

And the Israeli leftist "Peace Now" movement revealed, yesterday, Tuesday, that the Israeli Ministry of Housing prepared a plan to build 9,000 settlement units in a former airport north of Jerusalem among Palestinian neighborhoods.
