Minister of occupation army: "Hard blow" must be directed against Hamas

TEL Aviv _ Agencies

Israeli occupation army Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Tuesday he saw the need for a "severe blow" to Hamas in Gaza, saying that Palestinian protests and acts of "violence" could not be allowed to continue on the borders of the Gaza Strip.

Lieberman said the decision in this regard is not due to him, but to the small Ministerial Security Council, calling on the board to take firm decisions.

"The situation cannot continue as it is today," Liberman said during his visit to the Israeli military base "rim ", which is located near the Gaza Strip. We are not ready to accept the weekly violence series.

"To restore the situation to the pre-29 March March is not done by a settlement of the situation, but by a severe blow to Hamas only," he said, "This is the result I reached with the army commanders."

Since March 30 March Hamas has been organizing protests/"return marches" every Friday near the separation fence with thousands of Palestinians. Since then, at least 205 Palestinians have been martyred by the Israeli occupation army, most of them on the outskirts of the Gaza Strip. In return, one Israeli soldier was killed.

"The decision to strike Hamas should be a collective decision of the 12-member council," Lieberman said, adding that neither the army minister nor the Prime Minister can make such a decision alone.

"After the war/protective Edge of the summer of 2014, we won four years of calm, and with a hard hit on Hamas, we can have a calm and comfortable five years," he added.

Palestinians in the Gaza Strip continue their protests and call for "return marches" to affirm the right of refugees to return to their lands and homes that they left or abandoned in 1948 in the establishment of the State of Israel, and to end the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip.

Lieberman said the bloody clashes that took place on Friday after Israel allowed fuel shipments to reach the fuel-starved Gaza Strip were "a turning point."

The deal, brokered by the United Nations and backed by Washington, Israel and other countries, saw thousands of litres of fuel paid by Qatar for delivery through Israel to Gaza with trucks to feed the power supply under United Nations supervision. Since last Tuesday.
