The giant American group "Microsoft" announced on Sunday evening that its offer to purchase TikTok operations in the United States was rejected by the Chinese "Bitdance" group, which owns the platform.
"ByteDance informed us today that it will not sell the US operations of the TikTok platform to Microsoft. We are confident that our proposal was beneficial to TikTok users while protecting national security interests," Microsoft said in a statement.
The group, based in Redmond (Western Washington), announced at the beginning of August its interest in acquiring US operations for the application of "TikTok", under threat of a ban on it in the United States.
President Donald Trump, who has been accusing the social network of spying for China for months without evidence, signed executive orders to force Bydance to sell TikTok operations in the United States.
In the event that no acquisition agreement is reached before September 20, the platform will have to be closed in the United States.
The platform filed a complaint against the US government to challenge this measure.
"We would have made major adjustments to ensure that the service meets the highest standards of security, privacy, security and combating misinformation," Microsoft said.
At the end of August, retail group Walmart confirmed that it had partnered with Microsoft to negotiate the acquisition of the platform to share short comic or musical videos.
But this partnership between the two American giants was not enough.
American media indicate that the Oracle Information Technology Group, which has been named as one of the potential acquirers, is now finding the way open for it to buy the US operations of the platform, but none of the Oracle and Tik Tok has yet confirmed this information.
