Mercedes-Benz (China) Co., Ltd. and Beijing-Benz Automotive 9765 vehicles will be recalled from the Chinese market due to safety concerns, according to the country´s highest quality control authority.
The recall process, which is scheduled to begin on March 26, will include 5,218 imported cars manufactured between June 21, 2013 and September 27, 2016, and 4,547 locally produced cars between July 1, 2011 and February 19, 2017, according to the State Administration of Market Regulation. In a statement on its website.
The call was issued because of a software error that could cause the date and time of the emergency call system to differ from the date and actual time, possibly transferring an inaccurate location of the vehicle.
The error may delay emergency responders and increase the risk of infection.
The car companies will check and update the telecom unit software for free to eliminate the risks, according to the statement.
