This came in three identical letters sent by Ambassador Mansour today, Friday, to both the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council for this month (Germany), and the President of the United Nations General Assembly, regarding the crimes that Israel, the occupying Power, continues to commit while it is proceeding. It pushed forward its expansionist policies in the West Bank, consolidating its illegal occupation, and escalating its aggression against the Palestinian people, their land, and their rights.
Mansour stressed the importance of the international community not being satisfied with Israel´s "abstention" from formally annexing large parts of the West Bank on the first of July, because it is clear that the occupying Power has chosen to pursue its proven colonial methods by continuing to confiscate and annex Palestinian land. .
He pointed to the fact that the continuous Israeli colonization of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, for five decades, is being implemented gradually with the aim of easing, or even silencing, international reluctance, even when the occupation violates international law seriously and tears the prospects for a two-state solution on the pre-1967 borders. .
He also noted that the occupying Power continues its attempt to erase Palestinian existence, culture and heritage through unlawful appropriation and theft of heritage sites, especially in the Old City of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, and the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron.
Regarding the Corona pandemic, Mansour pointed out that while the Palestinians, as in the rest of the world, are fighting the pandemic and its severe health, social and economic effects, Israel continues to obstruct Palestinian efforts to combat the virus, making the acute crisis worse.
In this context, he noted that in the city of Hebron, one of the most affected areas in Palestine, the occupying Power again destroyed a clinic to test coronaviruses, while continuing to endanger the lives of Palestinian prisoners in its prisons, including children, under this threat. The epidemic highlighted the plight of the prisoner, Kamal Abu Waar, who suffers from cancer, who was also infected with the virus while in critical condition, indicating that the Palestinian leadership demands the provision of the necessary medical treatment and his immediate release.
