Jerusalem: 151 Arrests, 17 Injuries, and Demolition of 36 Structures and Lands During July

The Jerusalem governorate stated that Israeli occupation authorities carried out 151 arrests, injuring 17 civilians with live and rubber-coated bullets, and demolished and razed 36 structures and lands during the month of July.

In its monthly report, issued by the Public Relations and Media Unit, the governorate highlighted the Israeli occupation's crimes in the neighborhoods and towns of the governorate, including the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by 6,542 settlers.

Injuries: The report documented around 17 injuries resulting from Israeli forces' use of live and rubber-coated bullets, as well as severe beatings, in addition to hundreds of cases of suffocation from tear gas.

Arrests: The governorate confirmed the monitoring of 151 cases of arrests of citizens in various areas of the Jerusalem governorate during July, including 14 children and 4 women.

Settler Attacks: Settlers carried out 15 attacks against Jerusalemites, including 5 physical assaults. They also organized a march on the anniversary of the "destruction of the Temple," which is considered one of the major crimes against the identity of the holy city and attempts to erase its Palestinian identity.

The Occupation's Storming of Al-Aqsa: The report recorded the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by 6,542 settlers, labeled as tourists, with strict protection from heavily-armed occupation forces. The Israeli police also prevented the staff of the Al-Aqsa Mosque Reconstruction Committee from working in all departments of the committee inside Al-Aqsa.

Demolitions and Excavations: Israeli forces demolished and razed 36 structures and lands in the occupied Jerusalem governorate, including 8 structures that were forcibly demolished, as well as carrying out 14 excavation and land-levelling operations. These actions are part of changing the demographic character of the holy city.

Settlement Projects: During July, Israeli occupation authorities approved the construction of 450 new settlement units between the towns of Um Lisun and Jabal al-Mukaber in occupied Jerusalem, covering an area of 12 dunums. There are also plans to build a large settlement on land in the town of Beit Safafa, southeast of occupied Jerusalem, which includes 670 settlement units, as reported by local media.

Occupation Court Decisions: The Israeli occupation courts issued decisions of actual imprisonment, house arrest, deportation, travel bans, and prolonged administrative detention for a large number of Jerusalemite detainees without clear charges against them.

Violations Against National Figures: The Israeli occupation continued to target national figures in Jerusalem. Adnan Ghaith, the Jerusalem Governor, faced a trial, and the Israeli prosecution demanded an actual prison sentence of eight months for him. Moreover, Israeli intelligence summoned and deported several figures, and imposed travel bans on others.

Violations Against Holy Sites and Institutions: Israeli forces continued to target educational institutions and incite against them. The Israeli Knesset held a session on incitement against Arab schools and national curricula in Jerusalem, including incitement against Arab graduates from Palestinian universities working in Jerusalem schools.

In the context of attacks on medical facilities, Israeli forces stormed Al-Makassed Hospital in the town of Silwan in occupied Jerusalem.

Furthermore, Israeli police prevented a monk from entering the Al-Buraq Plaza west of Al-Aqsa Mosque while wearing a holy cross around his neck, during his visit with the German Minister of Education.

Violations Against Journalists: The Israeli occupation court lifted the house arrest for journalist Lama Ghusheh, sentenced her to 9 months of community service, suspended for 3 years, and fined her 4500 shekels. Her lawyer requested an appeal against the verdict.
