Japanese commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami victims

Today, Thursday, the Japanese will revive the memory of those who died ten years ago in an earthquake and tsunami in northeastern Japan, which led to a nuclear disaster.

A memorial service for the victims is scheduled for later in the day, but the families of the victims have already begun their own ceremony.

An earthquake measuring 9 on the Richter scale struck Japan on March 11, 2011, and was followed by a tsunami that reached a height of ten meters, killing 15,900 people. And 2525 people were not found.

"We lost our friends because of this disaster, and also there are still people missing, I think we should never forget them," the Japanese broadcaster quoted a woman as saying.

A person from Minamisuma City, Fukushima Prefecture, recounted how he lost his grandparents, when the waves began to rush, so that he was unable to reach their home.

Then, a triple meltdown occurred at the nuclear power plant, which released nuclear radiation and made it impossible to search for them.
