Japan supports UNRWA with more than $1.5 million

In 2020, the Government of Lebanon donated more than $5.1 million to support the efforts of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in response to the Coved-19 pandemic in its five other provinces in Gaza and the West Bank, which include Jerusalem, Jordan and The Syrian Arab Republic.

UNRWA said in a press release: This generous donation from Japan enables UNRWA to continue to provide primary health care to Palestinian refugees, and will allow the agency to provide personal protective equipment, including muzzles, robes, gloves and glasses. 3,000 health care workers are preparing the front lines for the agency´s response to the Coved-19 pandemic in all 141 UNRWA health centres."

UNRWA added: " In partnership with strong supporters, such as Japan, we continue to work hard to protect the safety of workers on the front lines and to move forward in preventing the Spread of Coved-19 while continuing to provide first health care that saves the lives of Palestinian refugees.
