Greek authorities on the island of Crete have arrested two Israelis on charges of raping a 19-year-old German tourist.
According to Israeli media reports yesterday, the 29 and 35-year-old men met German at a club, then went with them to a hotel and forced her to have sex there.
The suspects reportedly deny the charges.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed yesterday the arrest of the two men.
"This is pure slander," the Israeli lawyer told the Yediot Aharonot website, adding that she could prove her clients´ innocence.
According to Israeli media reports, the incident happened last Friday, and the Israelis were arrested the next day, after the German girl went to the police.
The Israelis are expected to be brought before an investigating judge. Forensic examinations are continuing.
