Hundreds of thousands are taking part in a march to support the two parliaments in Brazil

Hundreds of thousands of people took part in an annual gay support rally in the streets of Sao Paulo on Sunday, demonstrating against the policies of right-wing President Jair Paulsonaro.

According to GloboTV, British singer Mel C, a member of Spice Girls, was among the protesters.

The march, one of the largest marches in the world, commemorates the so-called Stonewall riots of 1969 in New York, the beginning of the equality movement for gay, lesbian and transgender people.

Paulasaro made frequent anti-gay comments, saying on one occasion he preferred losing his son in a traffic accident to become a lesbian.

The Brazilian president describes himself as a "homophobia" and once said, "If you see two men kissing each other in the street, I´ll hit them."
