Japan´s automaker Honda Motor Corp. has received orders to hold around 31,000 of its newly-integrated electric vehicle, Retro EV, from customers in Britain, Germany, France and Norway.
The Motor Trend website said the number could easily rise if the car was launched in North America.
This comes at a time when the Japanese company revealed more details of this car, which has not entered into production so far, including the distribution of weight and the scope and energy of its battery.
The company presented the first semi-complete model of the compact electric vehicle at the Geneva International Motor Show earlier this year. The car is expected to be officially launched in the European market later this year, while there are no plans to launch in the United States.
While the new car looks less powerful than its original test model, Urban EV, which is based on it, it retains most of the good features of the test model.
Honda said the electric motor would transfer power to the rear wheels, while the chassis relied on a four-wheel independent suspension system. The engine is cooled with water. The car is powered by a 35.5 kWh ionized lithium battery.
The maximum range of the vehicle is 125 miles, while the battery can be charged 80 percent in just 30 minutes.
