The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanum Gebrysos, has announced that the spread of the Coronavirus (COFED19-) virus has not reached the epidemic stage.
"Until this moment, we are not witnessing a global spread of the virus in a way that cannot be contained, and we are not witnessing cases of infection or deaths on a large scale," Gebrysus told a press conference on Monday.
"What we are seeing are epidemics in different parts of the world," he said.
While the World Health Organization is concerned about the spread of the virus in countries such as South Korea, Iran and Italy, Tidros says HIV rates in China have been declining since early February, which has demonstrated that the virus can be contained.
