A German citizen, armed with a knife, was shot dead by police in Amsterdam.
The Dutch police said on Thursday evening that policemen saw the 23-year-old man carrying a knife in his hand in a street in southwest Amsterdam, in the afternoon yesterday.
According to the data, the man initially did not respond to the police’s warnings, and then threatened to hit himself with a knife. Several attempts to talk to him were unsuccessful.
After the man approached the police officers despite repeated warnings, the police officers tried to arrest him at first, but when the man started brandishing the knife, the police shot him.
The man died of his injury despite attempts at resuscitation. Police have begun investigations and are seeking statements from potential eyewitnesses.
