Gaza: The first case of unknown acute hepatitis was recorded

The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced this evening, Tuesday, the registration of the first case of acute hepatitis of unknown cause, which is an 8-year-old child.

In a statement, the ministry stated that the patient suffers from severe acute hepatitis that necessitated his admission to the intensive care unit to receive appropriate treatment,

and indicated that its concerned teams are conducting epidemiological investigation of the case and vigorous follow-up to monitor any other cases.

And she pointed out that she had activated the surveillance system for such cases, after recording a number of infections globally with this disease.

She indicated that the World Health Organization recorded this month 170 cases of acute and severe hepatitis in many countries of the world and the occupied interior, and the causative agent of these cases has not yet been identified.
