Gaza Ministry of Health: 52% deficit in essential medicines

The Ministry of Health in Gaza has warned of serious repercussions for Gazan patients due to the unprecedented shortage of basic drug lists, which has reached more than 52%.


Ministry spokesman Dr. Ashraf al-Qadra said in an interview that the seriousness of the deficit is escalating as the Israeli occupation continues to prevent the Israeli occupation from preventing the Israeli occupation 45% of patients leave Gaza to complete their treatment abroad, especially cancer patients.


He explained that the shortage of medicines deprived hundreds of children of milk and affected 8,000 cancer patients, there are 1,150 patients with kidney failure, and 125 patients with hemophilia, not to mention the inability to provide therapeutic drugs to thousands of patients suffering from chronic diseases after a shortage of 68% of Their medications, in addition to running out of vitamins and supplements for pregnant women and running out of children´s medications, psychiatric and neurological medications and baby convulsions.


Al-Qadra stressed that the failure to respond to the ministry´s continued calls for health would put the lives of thousands of patients in Gaza at risk, noting that they have launched numerous appeals and letters to international organizations and the local authority to intervene to end the problem of drug shortages, but they have not yet been responded to.


Al-Qadra called on all international, human rights and government institutions to stand up to their responsibilities in the face of the threat to the patients of the Gaza Strip, which is a humanitarian duty guaranteed by international law.
