Parts of the country were hit by widespread flooding on Monday after several rivers overflowed their banks by heavy rains this weekend, a government agency said.
The Midlands was the hardest hit, according to the British Environment Agency, which issued 82 warnings and 117 flood warnings.
The rains disrupted rail traffic, flooded roads and canceled football matches.
In Hereford, at least 20 homes were submerged on Sunday, authorities rescued residents of a nursing home, and the downtown area of ​​Stafford was closed due to floodwaters.
The agency warned that the prospects of flooding Severn, Britain´s longest river, in the West Midlands, continue until Tuesday.
There were also warnings of flooding of the Y and Trent rivers, two of Britain´s five longest rivers.
Flood fortifications were established in several cities such as Bewdley, Hereford, Upton upon Severn and Shrewsbury.
