Both Messenger, Extragam and Wassab will remain separate applications on the home screen and standalone, but messaging features will be unified among these applications.
The goal of consolidation seems to be to keep users within the Facebook system, which will celebrate its 15th birthday next month and also allow the larger network to better compete with technology giants like Google and Apple.
