Euro-Med Monitor: Israel destroyed 21 houses on the heads of their residents in Gaza

The European Observatory for Human Rights said today, Thursday, that it has recorded 21 cases of destroying homes on the heads of their residents, two cases targeting gatherings, two cases targeting boats, and two cases of cultivated land.

The Euro-Med Monitor for Human Rights, according to a statement by Wasl Sawa, documented 31 cases of direct Israeli shelling of families in the Gaza Strip , killing a number of their members and wounding some of them.

The following is the text of the statement:

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor strongly condemned the Israeli forces´ targeting of entire families and causing them to be killed or injured by destroying homes on the heads of their residents, in inhumane military operations that violate the principle of distinction and proportionality.

The Geneva-based Euro-Med Monitor documented 19 cases of direct bombardment targeting extended families, including 13 cases in which homes were bombed over the heads of their residents, two cases in which gatherings were targeted, in addition to two cases in which a car was targeted, and two cases were bombed of a land and a farm.

As of the time this statement was published, these raids resulted in the deaths of 53 Palestinians, including 20 children and 14 women. Among the victims are a man, his wife and daughter, mothers and their children, and siblings. While 3 mothers were killed along with four or three of their children, knowing that this toll is still set to rise due to the missing of some of these families under the rubble, as rescue crews are facing difficulties in searching for them.

Among the most difficult crimes documented by the Euro-Med Monitor is what happened at dawn today, when the Israeli forces bombed a residential building in the Shati refugee camp, northwest of Gaza City. Its residents, including the family of "Abu Hatab", and the family of his sister, who sought refuge in him on a visit on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, and to escape the violent bombardment of eastern Gaza where she lives. Abu Hatab´s wife, four of her children, along with his sister and three of her children were killed, while a fourth child remained under the rubble. A single child, no more than 5 months old, survived and was still in hospital for treatment.

Later, the Israeli army admitted killing the family under the pretext of wrongful killing, claiming that the air force was targeting an apartment where they believed a number of senior Hamas leaders were But it turns out that those in it have nothing to do with the movement. He said: "During the hours of last night, the Israeli army targeted a number of senior leaders in Hamas inside an apartment used as a terrorist structure in the Shati refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip." He added, “It seems as a result of the raid that a number of Palestinians who were not involved were killed and injured, and that“ the details of the incident are under examination. ”

The Israeli army’s statement reflects the extent of its disregard for civilian lives. There are 9 people in it and others are still missing under the rubble, and this incident is not isolated, but has become a systematic policy of the Israeli army, as evidenced by the repeated cases documented by the Euro-Med Monitor during the past six days.

In 2014, the Euro-Med Monitor documented (144) cases of Palestinian families, at least two or more of each of them died during Operation Protective Edge launched by the Israeli forces on Gaza. .

Euro-Med Monitor notes that these raids came among hundreds of Israeli raids that violated everything in the Gaza Strip, and caused total or severe destruction to 719 housing units, in addition to varying damages that affected at least 4 thousand homes and facilities, which made more than two million residents In the Gaza Strip, there are prisoners of fear, panic and denial of security.

The following is a table of the killings resulting from the targeting of families in the Israeli raids on the Gaza Strip from the evening of Monday, March 10, 2021, until dawn on Saturday, March 15, 2021.
