The next step for US President Donald Trump may be the annexation of the West Bank and the recognition of the state of Gaza under the banner of Hamas, the PLO´s executive secretary Saeb Erakat said .
Erekat said in an interview with the official Voice of Palestine radio on Saturday that the US president´s policies toward the Arab-Israeli conflict indicate a radical change in the American policy of 100% towards the region, and that we live in an era after international law and resolutions of international legitimacy.
He added that the US administration rewards the occupation and war crimes as it started its first step in Jerusalem and the second in the Golan. He warned against the third step, which may include the annexation of the West Bank and the fourth declaration of the state of Gaza under the banner of Hamas.
"The next step may be to recognize the state of Gaza under the banner of Hamas, because they want to separate Gaza, and there are those who are consistent with this idea in the Gaza Strip," Erekat said.
Erakat stressed that no one will recognize the Washington´s actions on Jerusalem, refugees, the Consulate and the embassy, ​​and the world will not recognize the annexation of the occupied Golan.
Erekat pointed out that the US administration is fundamentally changing its policy on the conflict with Israel and came out of international law, and what tomorrow will be in this region is chaos, extremism and bloodshed.
Erekat said US envoy Jason Greenblatt and US ambassador to Israel David Friedman had become prime ministers of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu´s campaign.
