Erekat confirms US administration´s "incapacity" to take care of peace process

Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Secretary General Saeb Erekat on Monday stressed the Palestinian position on the "incapacity of the US administration to take care of the peace process and isolate itself from the international system and its coup against international law."

"The illegal actions taken by the administration unilaterally, and the impact on security and stability not only in Palestine and Israel, but also on the region and the world at large," Erekat said in a statement after meeting US Democratic Senator Tina Smith in Ramallah .

He said: "The US administration is accusing us of rejecting its plan.

"We reject all unilateral actions and actions announced by the US administration in support of the Israeli narrative, including recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the transfer of its embassy to Israel, the removal of Jerusalem and refugee files, the cessation of support for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, Settlement and closure of the PLO mission in Washington and elsewhere. "

Erakat stressed that "the two-state solution and ending the occupation that began in 1967 is the only solution to ensure security and stability in the region. Israel must change its illegal policies and policies and abide by its political and legal entitlements under the law, international legitimacy and signed agreements."

Erekat called on Senator Smith to work collectively to support the two-state solution and to embody the sovereignty of the State of Palestine on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital and to resolve the issue of Palestinian refugees in accordance with UN resolution 194. The absence of a two-state solution would result in only one state, Accepted by the Palestinian people and resisted.
