Philippine President Rodrigo Duterti has been sharply criticized after saying in a speech that he sexually harassed a maid when he was a boy, but his spokesman said the story was untrue.
Women´s rights organizations and other Filipinos criticized Dutarti for the statement and even demanded that he resign because of the disgrace of the country.
"This latest recognition has brought shame not only to him, but to every country that has trusted him to lead it with wisdom and integrity," Gabriela said.
"The pimp in Malasanang (the presidential palace) proved that he did not feel any harm in violating the rights of women, the less privileged people, and that he regarded them as his doll," she said.
"If Dutretti has already harassed the maid, he is a rapist, and if he makes up that story, it does not make him less repulsive, because writing stories of rape for humor is similarly repugnant," a Twitter tweak said on Tuesday.
