The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Africa has reached 7103,027 as of Wednesday afternoon, the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
Figures issued by the African Centers, a specialized health care body affiliated with the African Union, show that the total deaths from the disease amounted to 178,852, while the total number of people recovered across the continent reached 6,206,068.
South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Ethiopia recorded the highest number of cases across the continent, according to the authority.
South Africa recorded the largest number of cases at 2546,762 cases, while Morocco recorded 711,103 cases as of this afternoon.
The authority indicated that the south of the continent is the most affected region, followed by the northern and eastern parts of the continent, while Central Africa is the least affected region in the continent.
