China, on Thursday, successfully launched a new mobile communications satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan Province, southwest China.
The satellite (Tiantong 1-02) was launched at 23:59 (Beijing time) by a carrier rocket (Long March-3B).
It is worth noting that the satellite is a mobile communication system via satellite independently manufactured and developed in China, and it consists of a space sector, a land sector, and a terminal unit for users.
The satellite (Tiantong 1-02), developed by the China Academy of Space Technology, will establish a mobile network with ground facilities to provide all-weather, stable and reliable mobile communication services such as voice, SMS and data to users in China and the surrounding regions, the Middle East, Africa and other related regions. As well as most marine areas in the Pacific and Indian Oceans.
Today´s launch was the 352nd in the Long March series of missiles.
