Captive Club: More than 2,200 detainees have been detained since the beginning of the year, most of them from Jerusalem

The Captive Club said today, Wednesday, that the number of arrest cases carried out by the occupation forces since the beginning of this year has reached more than 2,200 arrest cases, including about 1,200 from Jerusalem, including the outcome of today´s dawn arrests.
 
The club stated, in a statement, that Jerusalem records the highest monthly rate of arrests, as it witnesses a high daily confrontation with the occupation and intense attacks, especially with the continuous escalation of incursions carried out by the occupation army and settlers against Al- Aqsa Mosque, and the high rate of arrests in Jerusalem affects women and children.
 
He pointed out that the occupation forces escalated the targeting of citizens in Jerusalem during the holy month of Ramadan, and since 2021 mass arrests have been recorded. .
 
The Captive Club pointed out that the testimonies that the institutions were able to obtain at the time confirm a high level of violence used against the detainees from the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
 
He stressed that the arrests in Jerusalem are specific in terms of the systematic practices that detainees are subjected to in general. Some Jerusalemite citizens have been subjected to more than 40 arrests over the course of a few years, and each time they are released with conditions such as imposing financial fines, bails, or a condition. House arrest and deportation, specifically from the Old City, including Al-Aqsa Mosque.
