Australian actress Olivia Newton-John hopes to raise money for her cancer hospital by auctioning hundreds of pieces she wore during her long career, including black leather uniforms. Which I wore in the movie "Jerez".
The auction house, which hosts the event in Beverly Hills, California, put the jacket at $ 200,000.
The 71-year-old singer and actress told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that she would donate a large portion of the proceeds from the auction to her cancer hospital in Melbourne, Australia.
Newton-John was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and last year the disease returned in the form of a tumor in the lower spine.
"I´m not sad at all," Newton-John said.
"It´s just things and I try not to relate to things. I will keep beautiful memories and pictures."
The British-Australian actress played Sandy in Griez. She played a blonde with curly hair falling in love with Danny, played by John Travolta in the 1978 musical. Newton-John wore tight uniforms in the film.
"The jacket was, of course, a great way to transform this attractive character," Newton-John said.
In addition to the leather jacket, there will be an estimated 500 other items in the auction. But she will not get rid of all her memorabilia.
"There are some jewelry that I will keep for my daughter. Some clothes I really like and Grammy awards," she said.
Newton-John won four Grammy awards, two of them for her song "I Just Love You".
