US President-elect Joe Biden announced, on Sunday, the formation of his White House contact group, which will be exclusively female.
Biden said: "I am proud to present today, the first communications team in the White House composed entirely of women," as his office described this team, as "the first of its kind in the history of the country."
Biden continued, saying: "These qualified and experienced in the field of communication, provide diverse perspectives for their work, and share the same commitment, to rebuild this country better."
Perhaps one of the most prominent names that Biden chose for the website of the Minister of Information and a spokeswoman for the White House in the new US administration, is Jane Psaki (41 years), who held many senior positions previously, including the position of Director of Communications at the White House under the administration of former President Barack Obama And the spokesperson for the US State Department to former Secretary of State John Kerry,
The names of six other feminist figures have also been announced, including Kate Bedingfield, who was Biden´s deputy campaign manager and who will serve as the White House Communications Director.
While Ashley Etienne will hold the position of Communications Director for Vice President, Kamala Harris, and Simon Sanders will assume the position of Senior Adviser and Spokesperson for Harris.
Billy Tobar will be the deputy director of communications at the White House, while Karen Jean-Pierre will be the deputy spokeswoman for the White House, while Elizabeth Alexander will be chosen as communications director for the incoming first lady, Jill Biden.
These appointments are considered certain, as they do not require approval by the Senate, unlike ministerial positions.
The president-elect and his deputy seek to show the diversity in the appointments and nominations announced so far, before taking the oath on January 20, 2021, as reports indicated that there are a number of other designations that may be announced this week, according to the New York Times.
The New York Times pointed out that these nominations will include, Cecilia Ross, the first black woman to lead the Council of Economic Advisers, Nira Tandin, the first American of Indian origin at the head of the Management and Budget Office, and Rima Dudin, as the first woman of Palestinian origin.
