Because of Pelosi, China imposes economic sanctions on Taiwan

China has imposed a series of restrictive economic measures against Taiwan, against the backdrop of the visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the island.

The Ministry of Commerce of the People´s Republic of China announced that it would stop supplying natural sand to Taiwan, and China had also stopped imports of citrus fruits and two types of fish products from Taiwan as of August 3.

Moreover, the Chinese authorities have imposed sanctions on two institutions in Taiwan for supporting Taiwan separatists and slandering China.

Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council of the People´s Republic of China, explained that the discussion is about the Democratic Taiwan Foundation and the International Fund for Cooperation and Development.
