Apple buys Dark Sky weather data app

US electronics giant Apple has acquired weather information for the Dark Sky smart devices (dark sky).

Dark Sky said in a statement that there will be no change in the work of the Dark Sky version of the devices that are running the iOS operating system produced by Apple, and that the application will remain available for sale on the Apple Store App Store.

At the same time, it will not be possible after that to download the application for users of devices that are running Android and Wear OS, while users who are currently on the application on these devices will continue to receive the service until the first of July 2020, as the application will stop working on these Devices as of this date.

According to its website, Dark Sky said that weather forecasts, maps and other items will remain available until July 1, 2020, and the site will remain active after that with the support of users of the ABI and IOS services.

"Our goal has always been to provide the world with the best possible weather information and help many people stay safe and achieve this in a manner that respects privacy. There is no better place to achieve these goals than Apple," said Adam Grossman, co-founder of the Dark Sky app.
