ANKARA--The number of victims of the fast-train accident has risen to 9, including the driver, and 46 injured, three of them in critical condition, the state said Thursday.
According to a state statement, the express train from Ankara to Konya collided with a locomotive on the track while entering the "Marshandes" station in Ankara.
The statement said nine people, including the train driver, were killed and 46 injured, three of them critically, according to the latest toll.
The injured were being treated in several hospitals in Ankara, he said, adding that rescue work was continuing at the scene.
The statement said the state would announce developments regarding the incident.
