The Jerusalem District Court last month approved a new mechanism to allow settlers to control land on which they have built settlement units, the Hebrew daily Ha´aretz reported on Sunday.
According to the newspaper, the talk is about 2000 settlement units built on the land of citizens in the northern West Bank. Stating that the court approved an "unpreceded mechanism" called (market system) to allow the legitimization of settlements and the seizure of land.
The Israeli authorities are trying to legitimize the settlements by claiming that they are built on government land under an Israeli military order issued in 1967.
The authorities began implementing this decision months ago, starting with the construction of four settlement units in the settlement of Eli Zahav, west of Kafr El Dik village, west of Salfit.
The Haaretz claimed that the occupied claim that the territories were government according to old maps, before being reexamined and confirmed that they were privately owned. Pointing out that the court justice recognized the right of settlers in those territories and the legislation of their presence there.
According to the newspaper, this decision allowed the occupation authorities to apply it in settlements and settlement outposts built illegally on privately owned land.
