A pause for redress for staff dismissed by UNRWA

Dozens of employees who were fired by the UNRWA administration organized a protest in front of the headquarters of the United Nations in Gaza City.

Participants in the sit-in demanded fairness and return to their jobs, as they received promises from the UNRWA administration during the 2018 contacts with the Staff Union.

The participants considered what happened with them and the delaying and marginalization of their rights, as a deliberate act to deny them these rights.

Some 89 staff members have been suffering from dismissal for years, for reasons that were described as illegal, amid promises by UNRWA to resolve their crisis, which has multiplied with the deterioration of the economic situation in Gaza.
