A fiery meteor lit up at night in the sky over parts of western and central Japan, social networks with posts by users who posted pictures of the super bright star.
And Japanese media reported that the meteorite was an extremely bright exploding meteor.
"We believe that the last light explosion was just as bright as the full moon," Takeshi Inoue, director of the Planetarium of Akashi Municipality, told Japan´s Kyodo news agency.
The fireball was visible for only a few seconds in the early hours of Sunday, but the scene was immortalized through images of cameras owned by the National Radio, "NHK," which generally capture earthquake activity rather than light displays in space.
A witness who saw the meteors wrote, via Twitter, "The sky was lit for a moment and I had a strange feeling in the light that it could not be caused by lightning. I felt the power of the universe!"
"Was this a fireball? I think it´s the end of the world ..." another said in a tweet attached to a video of the meteorite exploding while driving.
A similar bright star was seen over Tokyo in July before it was later identified as a meteor, and parts of it were found in the neighboring Chiba district.
