A Malaysian doctor managed to remove an insect that caused severe pain to a patient over the course of days, in a rare surgery, the British newspaper "Mirror " reported Tuesday.

The nose, ear and throat surgeon, Rahma Omar, was examining a patient to try to find out why the man had a pain in his ear, to be surprised by an insect inside the patient´s ear stream, which had been settling there for days apparently.

The doctor performed a rare surgery, and photographed it, in order to remove the insect that hung in the resin substance inside the patient´s ear, and was the biggest surprise when the doctor discovered that the insect is still alive.

"The patient was suffering from severe pain and discomfort because of something in his ear," said Doctor Omar, 49, based in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. I was delighted to remove this strange body from his ear. "

"It´s definitely the first time I´ve ever seen this, and I hope I don´t have to do a similar job again," he said, adding that "it could have been very dangerous."

Earlier this year, a doctor was able to extract a small worm (leech) from a patient´s nose that suffered a 10-day bleeding and headache in the head.

From the patient´s 51-year-old nose, the doctor removed the leech from his right nose, likely to have entered during a swim in a river.
