Tens of thousands of people marched in the Belgian capital of Brussels on Sunday to protect the climate.
These demonstrations come shortly before the United Nations climate conference in the Polish city of Katovitz.
According to police statements, some 65,000 people had been brought to the streets of Brussels, demanding stronger measures at the national and European levels to reduce CO2 emissions in the atmosphere.
It is expected that the far-reaching decisions taken at the 2015 Paris climate summit will be complemented by clear rules of implementation and review during the World Climate conference in Poland.
The Paris summit had decided to reduce the Earth´s temperature by at least two or a half degrees compared to the temperature of the Earth before the Industrial Revolution.
Efforts to combat the rise in the Earth´s temperature are concentrated on the complete cessation of greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible.
This effort will focus on the combustion of coal, oil and gas, which results in CO2 emissions.
On the other hand, there are voices opposing this trend, claiming that there may be social and economic repercussions in the event of a sudden shift in energy.
