The Regional Director of the World Health Organization said this evening, Sunday, October 22, 2023, that “20 hospitals in the Gaza Strip out of 35 are not working.”
He stressed that "there are 130 children under ventilators in Gaza who face the risk of death." He stressed that "the aid trucks that entered Gaza are never sufficient to meet medical needs."
He said, "There is a real humanitarian catastrophe due to the collapse of the health sector in the Gaza Strip."
The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned this evening, Sunday, October 22, 2023, of an unprecedented health disaster if the Strip’s hospitals run out of fuel.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Ashraf Al-Qudra, told Al Jazeera: “If the quantities of fuel run out, all Gaza’s hospitals will witness an unprecedented health catastrophe.”
He explained that there are more than 140 cases undergoing intensive care in Gaza hospitals, and their condition is extremely dangerous, indicating that Israeli threats to evacuate hospitals will cause a medical catastrophe.
