Seventeen people were killed and three others injured in a fire in a restaurant in northeastern China on Wednesday, according to local authorities.
The fire broke out at 12:40 pm in a restaurant in Changchun, the local government announced in a statement posted on the Meibo social media platform.
The statement confirmed that the firefighting personnel "rushed to the scene of the accident" and completed the search and rescue operation by three o´clock in the afternoon.
The statement added that "the wounded were taken to the hospital for treatment."
The authorities are investigations to uncover the causes of the fire.
