Abdel Nasser Farwana, a specialist in prisoners´ affairs and freedmen, said today, Wednesday, that 16,000 Palestinian women have been subjected to arrest and physical, verbal or psychological violence by the Israeli occupation, since 1967.
In his post on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which falls on the 25th of November of each year, Farwana indicated that Palestinian women are the most vulnerable to violence by the occupation and its various agencies, without regard to their gender and privacy, and without any consideration of their age and illness. And its special needs and weakness of its structure and composition.
He indicated that all the testimonies confirm that all Palestinian females who have gone through the experience of arrest and imprisonment have been subjected to violence in its various forms, and the Israeli occupation authorities are still deliberately resorting to the use of physical, verbal and psychological violence in dealing with all Palestinian women.
And he called for shedding light on the violence that Palestinian women are exposed to from the occupation, in prisons, checkpoints, roads, in many places of friction, and sometimes in front of her husband, children or grandchildren.
He also called for raising awareness about the extent of the problems facing Palestinian women, especially those who have been arrested as a result of this violence and its consequences.
He asked about the role of the United Nations in supporting Palestinian women and stopping Israeli violence against them.
