At least 16 people were killed and 50 others injured when two suicide bombers attacked a restaurant and a hotel in the town of Baidoa in Somalia, police sources and eyewitnesses told the German news agency (AFP).
Police officer Maal Mohammed said that a man who was proving his body an explosive device entered pedestrian to the restaurant "Pidir " and blew himself up, killing several people and injuring others.
Shortly after the first explosion, another suicide bomber blew himself up at the Bilan hotel, killing more than six people, the officer added.
The al-Shabab Islamic group claimed responsibility for the two attacks in Baidoa, via its pro-Andalus radio station.
The restaurant and the hotel are renowned for the reluctance of civilians and local government officials.
Bidoh, a hub of economic activity in Somalia, is located about 250 kilometers west of the Somali capital of Mogadishu.
The blasts came on the eve of the anniversary of the bombing of a truck bomb in the capital, in which more than 500 people were killed.
