Eleven Palestinians, including a reporter for the Qatari "Al-Jazeera" channel, were injured, after the Israeli occupation police suppressed protesters and journalists, this evening, Sunday, in front of the police station where activist Muhammad Al-Kurd is being held, in occupied Jerusalem.
Local sources said that the occupation forces suppressed dozens of protesters in front of a police station near the "Bab Al-Sahira" area, where the police detained the two activists, Muhammad and Mona Al-Kurd; to demand their release. Later, lawyer Nasser Odeh announced that the occupation authorities had released Mona Al-Kurd, away from the protesters. The repression began after the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood committee in central Jerusalem organized a press conference in front of the police station, where the police took Muna al-Kurd to another investigation center, and suppressed those present, before releasing Muna, away from the protesters. And the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a statement, that "11 injuries occurred during confrontations with the occupation forces at Bab Al-Zahra." And she said, "4 injuries with rubber bullets, and 7 injuries with sound bombs, including two girls and a paramedic from the Red Crescent crews." And she indicated that "one of the injuries was transferred to the hospital, and the rest of the injuries were treated in the field." Among the injured are; Al-Jazeera correspondent Najwan Samri, who sustained a knee injury, was transferred to Hadassah Hospital - Al-Isawiya, to complete treatment. Today, Muhammed Al-Kurd, Mona´s brother, surrendered to the occupation police, hours after they stormed the family´s home and arrested his sister. Earlier on Sunday, the occupation police arrested the Jerusalemite activist Mona Al-Kurd from her home in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem. It is noteworthy that the Al-Kurd family is among the families of "Sheikh Jarrah", which have been sentenced to deportation and displacement of its members from their homes in favor of settlers. It is noteworthy that the occupation authorities prevent entry to or exit from the neighborhood for non-residents, while allowing settlers to move freely in it, within the framework of plans to displace the Palestinian population.
