Farwana: 45% of all arrests since the beginning of the year were in Jerusalem

Abdel Nasser Farwana, a specialist in prisoners and liberated affairs, said Monday that by arresting more than 20 Jerusalemites, last night, it will be approximately (45%) of the total Israeli arrests since the beginning of this year were in Jerusalem.

This is a large and unprecedented percentage, Farwana said, noting that the percentage of detainees in Jerusalem during the same period under review last year (34.6%) of the total arrests in all Palestinian governorates.

He pointed out that the total of arrests in Jerusalem during the whole of the previous year constituted 37% of the total Israeli arrests in all governorates during the year 2019.

He said, "The Israeli arrests in Jerusalem are increasing significantly," pointing out that the occupying power is stepping up its repression of Jerusalemites.

"The indication is dangerous, and there is an escalating Israeli targeting of Jerusalem and Jerusalemites," he added.

It is noteworthy that the occupation arrested last night and at dawn today 21 citizens of Jerusalem, and they are: Chairman of the Committee of the Families of Jerusalemite Prisoners Amjad Abu Asab, Muhammad al-Sayyad, Ihab Abu Asbaitan, Ahmed Musa Mustafa, Farid al-Basiti, Muhammad al-Shibl, Ahmed Khwais, Talal al-Sayyad, Naji Abu Jum`a , Khaled Abu Ghannam, Iyad Al-Hadra, Moaz Al-Ashhab, Jihad Aweidah, Ahmed Arafat, Nidal Afaneh, Samer Shank, Hazem Gharableh, Mazen Badr, Wasim Al-Rishq, Ashraf Ubaid and Zuhair Obaid.
