Closure of the headquarters for the distribution of UNRWA aid in Gaza

Protesters closed, this morning, Saturday, a number of food distribution centers of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees, "UNRWA", in the Gaza Strip.

The protesters began the closure process from seven in the morning, chanting slogans denouncing the cuts in the agency, and the distribution of the unified food basket under the pretext of the financial crisis.

The Joint Committee for Refugees decided to close these centers today, Saturday, and tomorrow, Sunday, as part of a series of events that will be supervised by them, in rejection of UNRWA policies.

The committee accused the UNRWA administration of running back all the positions rejecting the unified food basket system, and blaming the poor refugees with the consequences of the financial crisis instead of approaching the international community and pressuring it to put it before its responsibilities.

She indicated that these protests come as a message to the UNRWA administration and the international community that compromising the food security of poor refugees cannot be taken for granted.
