Turkey welcomed President Mahmoud Abbas’s issuance of a decree providing for the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections to be held later this year, expressing its readiness to provide support for their success.
On Saturday, a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement said that Turkey is ready to provide various types of support for the success of these elections.
The statement emphasized that the decision to hold the elections constitutes an important step in order to defend the Palestinian cause stronger.
Yesterday, Friday, President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree setting the dates for holding legislative elections on May 22, the presidential elections on July 31, and the National Council (the parliament of the Liberation Organization) on August 31 this year.
