President of the European Council: We are committed to the two-state solution

European Council President Charles Michel said that bringing peace to the Middle East has become an urgent matter more than ever.

In his speech to the United Nations General Assembly today, Friday, Michel stressed that the issue of peace between Palestine and Israel must continue, in support of the legitimate aspirations of both parties.

He stressed the importance of commitment to the two-state solution, noting that the European Union will spare no effort to work to facilitate the return of the two sides to the negotiating table, in cooperation with international partners, including the International Quartet.

He added, "We are working to find a negotiated solution within the internationally agreed criteria. Our commitment to international law and United Nations resolutions."
