Gaza Health: We have reached a difficult stage of lack of laboratory material to examine Corona

Ashraf Al Qidra, spokesman for the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, said today, Tuesday, that the ministry has reached a difficult stage of lack of laboratory materials for testing Covid-19 in the central laboratory.

In a press statement, Al-Qudra explained that the operational materials for the laboratory device received from the Qatari Committee will be exhausted in the coming hours, and the laboratory´s ability to conduct a Covid-19 test will be halved.

He indicated that in the event that the Covid-19 examination is stopped, this will negatively affect the continuation of the epidemiological map, contact examination, suspected cases, and random swabs within the community.

The health spokesman in Gaza said, "In the event that the Covid-19 examination is stopped, this will have serious repercussions on the efforts we are doing to confront the epidemic."

"We are suffering from an acute shortage of 65% of laboratory supplies and blood banks, which will affect other tests that are needed by Covid 19 patients," he added.

And he called on all local, regional and international bodies to save the health situation and immediately intervene to meet the urgent laboratory and medicinal needs to confront the pandemic.
