A tragic week for Gaza... Four suicides in a week, the last of which was for a young man who left a moving message.

The Gaza Strip woke up this morning to a great shock after the young man, "Suleiman Al-Ajuri" (23 years old), left a touching message through a post on his Facebook page, ending his life with a gunshot wound He shot him in the head, registering the fourth suicide in the space of one week.

No one expected the young Ajjurian who continued to pray, to end his life in such a tragic manner, but he resorted to the use of his brother´s weapon, and he directed him to the roof of their house in the Zayed region in the northern Gaza Strip, to fire a shot inside his mouth, which led to the skull being shattered.

But before that, Al-Ajouri wrote via Facebook his last message, which carried a lot of pain, pain and oppression, and his hands wrote simple words that express the extent of the difficult circumstances he lived in. .

This publication raised a state of angry reactions to what happened with him and the conditions of young people in the Gaza Strip with the continued Israeli blockade and unemployment and increasing poverty rates, and other responses that held the Palestinian political leadership and division, whether in Gaza or the West Bank responsible for what took place and between the controversy raised On the prohibition of suicide or not.

"I think not only did Cheb Suleiman al-Ajuri, but many others," al-Ajouri, the journalist Fathi Sabah, wrote on Facebook, following the incident of the young man. Perfect, perhaps even successive generations !! ".

Sabah added, "My heart is crying for him and many hearts that you may not know either ... What is the worst of injustice and oppression and lost hope !!".

And he continued in his post on Suleiman, "His years were lost in vain, as the land was lost, and before him the human was lost during a fruitless march of injustice, killing, fighting, and corruption.

The Al-Ajuri incident came in conjunction with the announcement of the death of the young "A." (24 years), a resident of Al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City, after he burned himself a few days ago, due to the difficult life situation for him and his family.

And it was preceded yesterday, Friday, by a suicidal woman in her thirties, due to family feuds with her husband, amid mutual accusations between the husband and the lady´s family over his harsh dealing with her, which eventually led her to end her life by committing suicide by hanging.

A UNRWA teacher, a few days ago in the town of Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip, committed suicide by hanging, also due to unspecified circumstances.

Ayman Al-Batniji, a police spokesman in Gaza, told Al-Quds.com that the suicide rates remain normal compared to other rates in the countries of the region and the world, noting that they are due to family problems and psychological depression, and there is no single cause for these cases.

He pointed out that the police are ready to publish numbers and statistics of suicides, as an executive, and transfer them to civil society institutions that must work to search for the causes and motives of these events, and conduct research.

He pointed out that the police cannot do more than it does by investigating these incidents to find out whether there are criminal suspicions, to carry out its tasks.

According to human rights statistics obtained by Al-Quds.com, since the beginning of this year, there have been more than 12 actual suicide cases, and that there are daily attempts that reach 3 to 5 cases throughout the sector, and sometimes this number is recorded only weekly.

Statistics show that 73% of families in Gaza increase in incidents of gender-based violence.

The social and psychological specialist, Palestine Abed, returns suicide cases, their rise or retreat, to the dire economic conditions experienced by the Palestinian citizen, especially in the Gaza Strip, which suffers from a tight siege by the occupation, which doubled the unemployment numbers and poverty rates, on the one hand, and the division between Fatah and Hamas, which has affected young people in Gaza obtaining a real job opportunity within the governmental sphere, with conditions in the private sector declining.

Abed told Al-Quds.com, the sector is constantly living in permanent and continuous suffering, which differs in its composition from the reasons leading to suicide in general, especially in light of the gap experienced by young people between reality and what is expected, and all of this is due to the suffocating situation that everyone is living in.

"The blockade has negatively affected life in Gaza, imposed great psychological pressure, and the horizon is blocked in movement mobility, as well as the imposition of more restrictions, and the prevalence of extortion on a daily basis, and family family differences have a role in suicide and its motives."

The psychological and social specialist saw that the absence of awareness and the religious distant has its role, considering that scholars and preachers have an important role in building confidence, especially as there has become frustration among many groups of society and a loss of confidence in those preachers for many reasons related to their surroundings.

Abed stressed that the existing political situation also has a role, noting that there is a state of political repression among the citizen in the Gaza Strip because of the split between the Fatah and Hamas movements, and the disruption of the interests of this citizen based on political and other affiliations, and his influence more than other parties to the status quo.

A recently published report by Al Mezan Center for Human Rights indicates that the percentage of food-insecure families in the Gaza Strip has approached 73% at least.

According to identical statistics, more than 69% of the families of the Gaza Strip live under the extreme poverty line, while unemployment has reached about 75%.
